Soul Jazz gathers several pieces of rock and reggae in its dazzling new Studio One compilation, Rocksteady Got Soul.
Entitled “Rocksteady Got Soul,” this new compilation is the perfect opportunity to discover the wonderful, harmonious union between jazz, rock and reggae. This release celebrates the music of artists such as Alton Ellis, Jackie Mittoo, Sound Dimension, Lee “Scratch” Perry & The Gaylads, The Ethiopians and The Viceroys. Its eighteen tracks transport us to the 1960s and early 1970s, back when these songs were produced in Studio One.
It is a collection that caters for all tastes, incorporating both classics and unreleased gems! John Holt is present on the moving “My heart is gone,” a sad song tinged with romance, while Larry Marshall and the Freedom Singers entertain on “Monkey Man.” As for The Heptones, they offer hope on “Young Generation” with a message that is still valid today: “Let’s prepare for tomorrow, let us show the world, we must get by, let us try.”
Pre-order the compilation here, which will be released on March 5 on Soul Jazz.
